Social Media Licensing / Clip Use

BOX5 Media and BOX5-TV (β€œBOX5”) value the creativity of performers, fans, and content creators while protecting the rights of students, ensembles, and event partners. The following policy governs all use of BOX5-created footage on social media platforms.

This policy applies to any social media creator, influencer, entity, or organization requesting permission to use BOX5 footage, except for directors and instructional staff. If you are a director or instructional staff for a band in the video’s we have created, please reach out to support@box5.com with questions.

1. Clip Length & Quantity Limits

  • No clip may exceed 30 seconds of continuous footage of a single band or ensemble.
  • A creator may use up to three (3) clips of a single band per event.
  • β€œEvent” is defined as the full contest, inclusive of all rounds (Prelims, Semis, Finals).

Each social media platform owned by the same individual/entity is limited to:

These totals apply per platform, not per band.

2. Required Identity Verification

Before any clip may be reviewed, released, or licensed, the requester must provide:

  1. Full legal name
  2. Full physical address
  3. Direct, non-throwaway email address
  4. Direct cell phone number
  5. Direct link to the social media page or profile, verifying ownership

BOX5 reserves the right to request additional verification if needed.

3. Clip Licensing Fees

  • Prelims or Finals: $10 per clip
  • Prelims: $15 per clip
  • Finals: $20 per clip
  • Prelims: $25 per clip
  • Semifinals: $30 per clip
  • Finals: $40 per clip

Fees apply per clip (up to 30 seconds each).
Bulk purchase arrangements may be available upon request.

4. Monetization & Revenue Sharing

Creators may not:

  • Enable monetization on posts containing BOX5 footage
  • Include BOX5 clips in revenue-generating subscription platforms (Patreon, paid Discords, paid Facebook groups, etc.)
  • Place BOX5 clips behind any form of paywall

If the platform automatically monetizes all creator content (e.g., TikTok Creativity Program, Reels Bonuses, YouTube Shorts Fund), the creator agrees that:

  • BOX5 reserves the right to participate in revenue sharing for posts containing BOX5 footage.
  • BOX5 may request transparent reporting of revenue generated from such posts.
  • Failure to comply may result in revocation of the license and DMCA enforcement.

This ensures BOX5 is not financially disadvantaged by auto-monetization systems the creator cannot manually disable.

5. Attribution Requirements

Every post containing BOX5 footage must include:

  1. A direct tag to the following:
    • facebook: BOX5 Media
    • instagram: @box5_tv
    • youtube: @BOX5TV
  2. If posted during the competitive season:
    • A working link to purchase future events or full performance on BOX5-TV

Attribution must be clear, visible, and not hidden among hashtags.

6. Content Restrictions

Creators may not:

  • Remove, crop, obscure, or modify any BOX5 watermark
  • Add watermarks implying ownership of BOX5 content
  • Use clips for criticism, controversy, or negative commentary about bands, performers, judges, or BOX5
  • Use BOX5 clips in political, inflammatory, or inappropriate contexts
  • Use BOX5 clips for AI-generated videos, training, or automated systems
  • Create highlights reels that exceed the clip limits stated above
  • Use BOX5 clips in reaction videos containing more than 30 seconds of BOX5 footage

Any inappropriate or misleading use may result in immediate revocation of licensing permission.

7. Music Licensing Notice

Use of BOX5 footage does not grant synchronization rights for music contained in the video.
Creators must comply with the music policies of each social platform.

BOX5 is not responsible for copyright flags issued by music publishers.

8. Removal Compliance Requirement

The creator agrees to immediately remove any posted clip upon written request from BOX5 for any reason, including but not limited to:

  • Rights conflicts
  • Performer privacy concerns
  • Branding concerns
  • Copyright restrictions
  • Competitive season timing
  • Misuse or breach of this policy

Non-compliance may result in:

  • DMCA takedown
  • Revocation of license
  • Legal action

9. Prohibited Platforms & Uses

Without a separate commercial license, BOX5 footage may not be used in:

  • Patreon (free or paid content)
  • Subscription Discord servers
  • YouTube Membership perks
  • Paid courses or online classes
  • Digital products
  • Marketing/ads that imply official partnership

10. Licensing Request Process

To request clip usage, the requester must:

Send all contact information listed in Section 2 to:

support@box5.com

  • Event name (Regional, Super Regional, Grand Nationals)
  • Ensemble(s) involved
  • Requested clip(s) including approximate timestamps
  • Intended use and platform(s)
  • Whether posting will occur during the season

BOX5 will review:

  • Eligibility
  • Clip availability
  • Usage context
  • Branding, timing, and compliance

No clip may be used before written approval is granted.

Once approved, BOX5 will invoice the requester based on Section 3.

Clips will be delivered to the requester in the approved format.


11. Agreement & Enforcement

By requesting or using BOX5 footage, the requester agrees to:

  • This full policy
  • BOX5’s licensing terms
  • All applicable copyright laws
  • Immediate cooperation with removal or correction requests

Unauthorized usage may result in:

  • DMCA takedowns
  • Legal action
  • Platform reporting
  • Permanent ban from future licensing

BOX5 reserves the right to update or revise this policy at any time.
